Yesterday was another first. I went into the old city, (that's not a first though, I've done that every afternoon since I got here), and I bought my first souvenirs. A skirt and some Christmas tree ordaments! The skirt is so pretty. It's designed so that it can either be worn as a tube top dress or lower for a long skirt. It's so pretty! The Christmas ordaments are hand carved olive wood with different scenes of Christ's birth. And the best news - I only spent 60 Shekels on everything (that's about $17)! I'm pretty impressed with my bartering skills. I was looking at a nativity set and I talked the guy down from 900 shekels to 450! I didn't end up getting it though, I told the guy at first that I wasn't ready to buy anything yet. The people here are a little pushy though when it comes to shopping. I guess this will teach me to say no to people a little easier. I hope! Otherwise I might come back with a TON of souvenirs.
